Betty J. McDermott, 91, was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma the only child of Marguerite (Meeks) and Dewey Parker. Raised and educated in Jenks, she attended Oklahoma A&M College graduating in 1951 with a degree in Home Economics.
She married Joseph McDermott in 1962 in Stigler, Oklahoma. The couple moved to Enid that same year where they made their home and where her husband taught in the Enid school system.
Betty was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. She was a longtime quilter, loved to work in her garden, volunteered for Our Daily Bread, member of Chapter GP of the PEO Sisterhood, and most especially loved to visit with family and friends.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband and parents. She is survived by four children, Steve Eaton (Linda), Jenks, OK; Kelley Cox (Steve), Beavercreek, OH; Mary Holzwarth (David), Phoenix, AZ; and Maureen Phillips (Ralph), Enid. She is also Mema to 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday October 30, 2020 at 10:00 am at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church with Father John Herrera officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. A prayer service will be held on October 29, 2020 at 6:00 pm at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.
