The Celebration of life for Betty Jean Gnoth will be held Friday February 25th at 2:00 pm at Anderson Burris Chapel. Service arrangements are under the direction of Anderson Burris Funeral Home and Crematory.
Betty Jean (Summers) Gnoth (Ferrell) was born April 16, 1941 in Wellington KS to Loyd and Mary Summers. And passed away suddenly on February 17, 2022 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Enid, OK.
She attended Attica Schools in Attica KS, where she grew up. Betty married Henry Ferrell on November 27, 1957. To their union three children were blessed. Deana, Debra, and Tony. After her divorce she married John Gnoth in March 16, 1982 and they lived in Enid, OK. She worked many jobs including Maxwell House Holiday Inn, VIP, Marletts, and O’Reilly’s, where she retired from in September of 2009. She then moved to Driftwood, OK, then Cherokee, OK to live with her daughter and son-in-law.
Betty (also known as GG) loved to cook and bake, especially for her family and friends. In her spare time, she loved to embroider, make quilts, crochet, sew and word search. She always had to be doing something. She was known to most people as “Betty Boop” and it showed she enjoyed it with her collection of Betty Boop items, even clothes. Betty was known for her love of Betty Boop, especially of her family, friends, and co-workers.
She loved her family even when they did not always see things eye to eye. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren when they would come to visit, and she would ask if they wanted to spend the night because she loved to make breakfast for them. A favorite would be bacon, eggs, and blueberry pancakes.
Betty is survived by her three children and two stepchildren, and sister Rose Denison of Florida. Deana Thompson and husband Steve of Cherokee, OK. Debra Hays and her husband Jeff of Jerome, Idaho. Tony Ferrell of Kiowa, KS. Dee Beck and husband Kevin of Herby, KS. Matt Gnoth of Saron, KS. Grandchildren Jeremy Kiser and wife Bridgette Melissa Maydson, Megan Arellano and husband Luke. Stephen Holt and wife Christa. Tiffany and her husband Jessie Thomas. Letisha Nelson and husband Chris. Chris Ferrell and wife Madison Amanda Olsen. Millie Bush and husband Jet, and Josh Beck and Regina McCormick and husband Jason. Lane, Wyatt, Jeff Jr. and wife Crystal Mariah.
Great grandchildren Sierra, Brandon, Caylee, Britney, Tyler, Beau, Bethany, Lukas, Tyson, Isabella, Carson, Zander, Mersedes, Johnathan, Connor, Kyler, Jaden, Noah, Devin, Kaleb, Caydence, Boston, and Henry. Two great grandkids Chonner and Sebastian. Bruce, Bruce Jr. and wife Jasmine. Levi, Garrett, Korbyn and Loinnie’s wife April. And many nieces and nephews and step grandchildren and great grandkids.
Betty is preceded by John Gnoth, Henry Ferrell, Pat Reece, Mildred Buck, Loyd and Judy Summers, Jim Summers, Mary and Lloyd Summers, Gwen Casas, Jan, and Jack Hammock. Ashley passed away five years ago and one great grandson who passed a year before.
Her family is definitely large, and she loved you all. Her extended family and her work family meant so much to her as her regular family. She may have been very outspoken and hardheaded, but she had a very loving, kind, and generous heart underneath it all. We will miss her, but she will forever be in our hearts and memories.
