The funeral for Barbara Lynne Hendrie, 76 year-old Enid resident will be 2:00PM Saturday, February 22, 2020 in the Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Kelly Russell and Debbie Huskey will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Barbara was born April 14, 1943 in Enid to Otto and Ruby(Rice) Boss and died Sunday, February 16, 2020 in Greenbrier Nursing Home.

Barbara graduated from Enid High School in 1961 and later from Enid Business College. On September 29, 1962, she married Raymond Hendrie. They had two children, Sherri and Jennifer. For the next two decades, Barbara worked alongside her husband in the family restaurant business. She also worked in food service for different nursing homes, and was a dedicated St. Mary’s Hospital volunteer. She was a member of Junior Welfare League and loved participating in the Follies productions. Barbara was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church. She was an adoring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

At age six, Barbara was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes. This was way before the time of advancements in diabetic care. When she was a child, she attended a summer camp for diabetic children and became an advocate for diabetic care. She was even recognized by Governor Frank Keating for her work.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Kevin Thompson. She is survived by two daughters, Sherri Hendrie (Christie) of Enid and Jennifer Hendrie Thomspon of Moore. Surviving grandchildren are Jordan Thompson (Alex), Trevor Thompson, and Shanel Martin (Chinyelu). Great grandchildren are Aspen, Jaxon, JJ, Chinyelu, and Sade. Also her sisters, Dianne Puckett of Stillwater and Miranda Wall and husband Terry of Bethany.

The family would like to thank the staff at Greenbrier Nursing Home for the fabulous care they provided to Barbara over the last decade.
