Autry’s SkillsUSA students competed at the National contests held in Louisville, Kentucky in June. Gold winners included Chasity Urban, Chloe Hopper and Brian McKee for Promotional Bulletin Board Post-secondary, Garrett Smoot, Kyle Dempsey and Jackson Minton for Promotional Bulletin Board High School, and Zane Rader for Motorcycle Service Technology High School. Luis Renteria won silver in Collision Repair Post-secondary and Alan Ochoa won bronze in Mobile Electronics Installation Post-secondary.

Oklahoma won 68 total medals, the most in the nation for the second year in a row.

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. They provide educational programs, events and competitions that support career and technical education. SkillsUSA improves the quality of America’s skilled workforce through a structured program of citizenship, leadership, employability, technical and professional skills training. SkillsUSA is one of three CareerTech Student Organizations (CTSOs) at Autry. One hundred percent of Autry students participate in one of these student organizations.

Five Autry HOSA students competed at the National Competition in Orlando, Florida in June. Mikel Rose won gold in the category of Extemporaneous Health Poster Post-secondary. Olivia Decker and Jr Aguilar won bronze in the category of Emergency Medical Technician Post-secondary.

HOSA is a student organization for students pursuing careers in health professions. The mission of HOSA is to enhance the delivery of compassionate, quality health care by providing opportunities for knowledge, skill and leadership development of all health science education students, therefore, helping the student meet the needs of the health care community.

Autry Technology Center has been a part of the Enid community since 1967 and is one of 29 CareerTech schools across Oklahoma. The center has more than 25 career programs and offers a wide variety of evening and weekend short-term courses and certifications for many diverse career fields. Autry serves nearly 16,000 individuals each year, including many area employees who receive training through the Business and Industry Services Department that works with over 500 local businesses each year.
