ENID, Okla. - Holocaust survivor and author Marion Lazan is coming to Enid. Lazan has dedicated her life to delivering a message of racial and religious tolerance to audiences all around the world. For over twenty years she's been telling her story to school children, high school and college students. Her motivation is the knowledge that she is the last of her generation to speak first hand about the horrors and adversity that Holocaust survivors lived through.
-
Recently, Chisholm Middle School 8th grade student, Jayli Downard, contacted Lazan online after reading her book, "Four Perfect Pebbles." After speaking with Jayli, Lazan contacted Chisholm Middle School principal Crystal Szymanski and plans were made to bring her to Enid.
-
Lazan's trip to Enid has grown into a full week of speaking engagements. She will arrive Sunday with her husband from New York and will be presenting for several local schools next week. The session she has scheduled for NOC Enid on Monday, April 11th is open to the public.
-
Veronica Fuxa, a senior at Pioneer High School, an author herself, will be introducing Mrs. Lazan Monday evening at 7 pm. Fuxa wrote "Red Smoke," a holocaust novel. The NOC engagement Monday is sponsored by the Enid Arts Council, OKC, Humanities Council, and Friends of the Enid Library.
