A graveside service for Anna Marie Hutcheson Payne, age 77, will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, December 3, 2015, at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with family will be Tuesday evening 6:00 to 7:30 PM at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.
Anna Marie Hutcheson was born on October 29, 1938, to Paul “Pete” Allan Hutcheson and Rachel Ann (Bridgeman) Hutcheson and passed away Sunday, November 29, 2015, in Enid.
Annie graduated from Garber High School in 1956. On July 26, 1957, Annie married Glen E. Payne in Enid, and they lived in the Breckenridge area before moving to Enid to live out the remainder of her life at the Civitan homes, where she enjoyed the activities and all of her neighbors. She was a member of Pleasant Vale Community Church.
Glen and Annie were blessed with five children, six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Which they raised through example to be caring, loving and helpful whenever possible.
Annie was an outstanding cook and enjoyed entertaining friends and family with a great meal usually followed by a rousing card game. She could hear a deck of cards being shuffled from miles away, and her favorite card game was Heel and Toe Canasta. She loved winning and the banter that went along while playing, but never took it too seriously! She would be the “pen pusher” or scorekeeper and was sometimes accused of padding the score and having her math skills brought into question now and again. She definitely had an ornery streak and could hold her own against the best of pranksters.
Annie is survived by her devoted, loving husband, Glen E. Payne of the home; sons Larry and wife Karen Payne, and Bill Payne, all of Enid; daughters Peggy Jeter and Barbara Bennett, both of Enid, and Paula and husband Dan Nagel of Federal Way, Washington; grandchildren David Sweet of Ada, Jeff Payne of Enid, Hannah Williams of Enid, Ora Bennett of Sand Springs, Lynsey Payne of Enid, and Nicholas Payne of Norman; great-grandchildren Lacee Sweet, Jordyn Sweet, Samuel Sweet and Sheyenne Sweet of Ada, Tryssani Bennett of Tulsa, and Zane Bennett of Enid; and brother Charles “Butch” and wife Linda Hutcheson of Enid; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and a multitude of extended family and friends.
Annie is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Rachel Hutcheson, brother Donald “Joe” Hutcheson, granddaughter Myranda Payne, and two sons-in-law Bobby Jeter and Luther Bennett.
Annie will be sorely missed and will always hold a special place in the hearts of all who had the privilege of getting to know and love her.
The family appreciates the outpouring of thoughtfulness from her extended family and many friends.
