Anita Elizabeth Tibbets of Enid, Oklahoma passed away from ovarian cancer on February 1, 2019 at her home in the Golden Oaks Retirement Community. Anita was born March 6, 1929 in Memphis, Texas to Derwood and Estelle (Craver) McCool. She graduated from Memphis High School and later from business school in Lubbock. She married the love of her life, Marvin Ferrell Tibbets, in March of 1953. Eventually settling in Laverne, Oklahoma, they raised three children: Cindi, Mike, and Robin. Anita was a member of the First United Methodist Church, followed her children in their activities, played bridge, and loved square dancing and country-western dancing with Marvin. Marvin died in 1984 from cancer.

Anita moved to Dumas, Texas upon his death to be near her parents and her two sisters. In Dumas, she was an active member of the First United Methodist Church singing alto in the choir, taught ESL, and volunteered her time in the elementary schools. Anita was an active bridge player and avid doll collector. She married Tom Quirk in 1996 and they enjoyed traveling and visiting with children and grandchildren. Tom passed away from cancer in 2000.

In 2013, Anita moved to Enid where she was welcomed into the Golden Oaks Community and lived there happily with her many friends and fellow card players. She travelled as often as she could - she never said no (or even asked where you were going) when she was invited to go somewhere. Anita was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and her beloved Sunday School class, the Sooner Class.

Anita is survived by her three children: Cindi (Mrs. Greg) Miller of Dayton, Ohio; Mike (Karen) Tibbets of Oklahoma City; and Robin (Mrs. Tom) Newby of Enid. She is also survived by sisters Genevieve Allen of Amarillo, Texas and Rachel Savage of Houston, Texas.

Anita took great pleasure in her grandchildren and great grandchildren. If you knew Anita well (or even if you didn't!), she was always ready to tell you a story about her grandchildren or great grandchildren who, in her opinion, were the cutest and smartest children anywhere! She is survived by seven grandchildren: Austin and Christie Teel of Beaver Creek, Ohio; Mason and Dawn Teel of Tipp City, Ohio; Brittyn and Brad Boyer of Denver, Colorado; Brandi Tibbets of Oklahoma City; Kristina and Will Tyner of Goltry Oklahoma; Laura and Dillon McGuire of Laverne, Oklahoma; and Tanner Newby of Enid. She is also survived by sisters Genevieve Allen of Amarillo, Texas and Rachel Savage of Houston, Texas.

Anita had thirteen greats: Lexi, Austin, and Audrey Teel; Kaden; Kade, Kellen, and Kyran Tibbets; Baylor Tibbets; Grant, Emma, and Grace Tyner; and Jack and Eli McGuire. Andrew preceded his "Granny" in death in October 2018.

Anita loved the Lord, her family, and her many, many friends. She was blessed with a kind heart, strong spirit, and good health the majority of her almost 90 years. She loved to travel and never tired of visiting her family. She celebrated life and found joy in every day. Anita will be greatly missed by the many who know and loved her.

Her Memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 in First United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Mitchell officiating. Services and complete cremation arrangements are under the direction of Brown- Cummings Funeral Home. Memorials can be given through the funeral home to Enid First United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
