ENID, Okla. - It's time to crown a new winner of the Sandbox Learning Amazing FUNraising Race. Last year race contestants started at the Sandbox Learning Center and made their way through downtown Enid to such places as Simpsons Olde Tyme Museum, The Railroad Museum, First Presbyterian Church, Henninger-Hinson, the Fire Department and finished at David Allen Memorial Ballpark.
-
There were 10-12 stops in all and the route was a little over 4 miles. At Simpsons they had to memorize lines from a Western movie and act them out on a movie set, they worked a hand-pump car at the railroad museum, played corn hole at the Presbyterian Church, searched through caskets for their next clue at Henninger-Hinson, completed an obstacle course at the fire department and counted the chairbacks at David Allen.
-
This years contest will be just as exciting, the route length will be between 4.5 – 5 miles winding throughout the downtown area. Racers are encouraged to ask folks they encounter during First Friday for help with the clues to their next location.
-
The two-person team race is based on the popular television show AMAZING RACE. Checkpoint challenges test contestants mentally or physically and some may be downright silly. The first team to complete all of the challenges successfully and cross the finish line is the winner.
-
At the end of the day, racers will have learned a little bit more about Enid, enjoyed an amazing workout and participated as a team while benefiting Enid’s only non-profit daycare center.
-
This years race takes place Friday, August 5, 2016 (during Main Street Enid’s First Friday). The race start time will be 7:00pm and will take approximately 2-3 hours to complete. The entry fee is $100 per team.
-
A bonus feature can help contestants gain an advantage. If a team raises $500 they win a fast forward to the next challenge of their choice. Registration deadline is July 25, 2016. Download entry form - amazing Race.16.
-
Prizes will be awarded to the top 4 teams totaling $500 cash. First Place: $175, Second Place: $150, Third Place: $100, Fourth Place: $75
