ENID, OK - The faces of the kids said it all as they gave high fives and raced through the reception line at Academy Sports on Thursday. Dozens of employees were on hand to welcome 30 local kids to their brand new store. Employees had just gathered in the parking lot for a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially kick-off the opening of the Enid location.

Academy's new Enid store donated $100 Academy gift cards to 30 local youth from the Denny Price Family YMCA. They were the store’s first customers and had a chance to explore it with Academy team members. Together, they shopped for anything the kids wanted including equipment for team sports, all-new footwear, bikes, school apparel, fishing and camping gear, and more.

Several kids held tightly to brand new bikes while others were trying on new clothes. A couple of girls found bright pink boots and immediately began wearing them. Each child had a $100 gift card to spend during the one-hour donation event. A store team member (or two) was assigned to each child as a shopping buddy to help the child select their purchases and keep track of their budget.
-
While the children were shopping, parents were given a guided store tour and they were able to test the digital golf hitting bay, archery lane and other store activities. Parents were asked to refrain from shopping with their child as they wanted the children to make their own product selections with their gift cards.
