Funeral service for Bruce Bittle, 88, of Covina, California will be Friday, August 26, 2022 at 10:00 am at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tommy LeGrand officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery
Bruce was born on March 24, 1934 in North Enid to Roy and Darlean McCabe Bittle . He was number 4 of 9 children & loved his large family.
Bruce graduated from Enid High School in 1952. Bruce eloped in 1953 with Betty Lee Phillips. They were happily married until her death in 2013.
Bruce was trained as a machinist and he and Betty moved from Enid to Tucson, Arizona in 1961 to work at the air force base there. They continued to live in Arizona, where he worked at a copper mine until 1968, when they moved to California where he was foreman at Johnston Pump Company where he retired. After retirement, Bruce did wrought iron fabrication and drove a truck. He and Betty often traveled together. In 2002 Bruce and Betty moved back to the Tulsa area, where he built a house on Keystone Lake.
In 2012, Bruce & Betty were forced to move back to California due to poor health. Bruce moved in with and was cared for by Cheryl, Garth & Jeremy Epler. Bruce was a vital part of their household and loved by all who met him. Bruce was on hospice care & died at their Covina home.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, 5 of his brothers and sisters, his son, Bruce Lee and his wife, Betty. Bruce is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Epler of Covina, California and Rebecca Serna of Mesa Arizona, 4 grandchildren & 5 great grandchildren.
