ENID, OK - Randy Long received a unanimous vote from the Enid Board of Education to fill the seat of Office 6 at the regular meeting Monday evening.
Long replaces Kyle Whitehead who resigned recently after serving for 10 years on the EPS school board.
Long is a long-time resident of Enid, where he has practiced law for over 40 years. He currently serves as the Board Chair of the Garfield County Child Advocacy Council and is on the Board of Directors of the United Way of Northwest Oklahoma and the Enid Community Clinic. He is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma Law School and also earned a bachelor’s of Business Administration degree from OSU.
He believes our young people are the key to making the world a better place and that we owe them the best possible education.
“It is imperative that we do everything possible to provide our young people with a positive supportive educational environment that equips them for college, a trade school or to enter the work force,” said Long.
Superintendent Dr. Darrell Floyd expressed his excitement for Long to join the Enid Board and serve the students and teachers of Enid Public Schools.
“Randy Long is a well-respected attorney here in Enid,” said Floyd. “He has given his time, effort, energy, and talents to a number of organizations here in town, and we are thrilled that he has chosen to serve on our EPS school board to help continue to build on the previous successes of EPS and press on to even greater achievements in the future.”
Long is an active member in Emmanuel Baptist Church. He and his wife Lori have two adult children, Katy and Emily, all graduates of Enid High School.
