ENID, OK - This September, the Enid Police Department will launch its Police Explorers Program for area youth with an interest in the field of law enforcement.
The program is for all interested youth ages 14 to 20 from the surrounding area.
The inaugural group of 15 Explorers will meet twice a month from 6 to 9 p.m., the second and fourth Wednesday of the month at the Enid Police Department Training Center, 401 W. State.
Participants will be assigned uniforms, learn everyday ins and outs of policework, and work alongside our officers at events.
The program’s first meeting is slated for Sept. 14.
Applications are available at the Records Division of the Enid Police Department, 301 W. Garriott. Applications are due no later than Sept. 1 and can be returned to the Records Division.
Applicants must be able to pass a background check and undergo an interview with officers involved with the program.
“It’s a great way to learn about law enforcement and to explore the profession, the things that we do, the training that we get and you can learn about the laws of the state and the city in which you live,” said Officer Tobias Plucinski. “You’ll gain leadership experience and have an opportunity to be a leader of the group.
“You’ll be able to do community service, which you can put on your college applications,” he said. “You’re going to have lots of fun and will get to go to competitions to demonstrate what you’ve learned.”
Those with questions about applying or the program can contact Officer Plucinski at (580) 616-7083 or tplucinski@enid.org.
