A graveside service honoring the life of Melvin W. Schroeder 98, will be Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 11:00 am at Enid Cemetery under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Reverends Kenneth Wade and Dave Jones will officiate.
Melvin was born October 7, 1923 in Garber to Walter and Ella Kramer Schroeder and died February 8, 2022 at his home in Enid, Ok.
He served two years in the U.S. Army during WWII operating heavy equipment. He married Lucile Markos, June 30, 1946, in Enid. They lived on a farm southeast of Enid, where they raised wheat and also bred, raised and raced thoroughbred horses. They moved to town in 1978 to enjoy retirement and spend time with family.
Melvin was a long time member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Enid.
Melvin was preceded in death by his wife, Lucile in 2009 and two brothers. He is survived by one daughter, Vicki Smith, two sons, Larry (Nita) Schroeder, Tony Schroeder; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; sister, Caroline Cowan; nieces and nephews.
He was very grateful to his family, friends and neighbors wo were there for him when he needed help. A special thank you goes to Tiffany Skidmore for her devotion and loving care during his final years. The family will always be grateful.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made through Anderson-Burris to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or Waukomis Christian Church.
