Doris Coleen Payne

Monday, February 28th, 1938 - Sunday, January 16th, 2022

A Celebration of Life Service for Doris Coleen Payne age 83 of Enid will be 2:00 pm Friday at Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Rev. Vernon Lee officiating. Burial will be in Wamego, Kansas at the Wamego City Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Coleen was born February 28, 1938 on Junction City, KS to Henry C. and Nellie L. (George) Payne and passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022 in St. Mary’s Hospital.

Coleen went to Washington DC in 1959 to work at the Pentagon as a clerical worker during the Vietnam Conflict. She lived outside Washington DC when 9/11 happened and she witnessed the plane hitting the Pentagon. She moved to Enid to live near her brothers in April 2007. She was very active in the Blue Star Mothers and Vietnam Veterans of America.

She is survived by her brothers; Lawrence Payne, Ralph Payne both of Enid and Paul Payne from Durant, OK and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, John, James, and Richard.
