Martin Gilbert Bond was born March 22, 1937, in Enid, Oklahoma, to James “Gib” and Juanita Bond, and went to his heavenly home on November 9, 2021, in Wichita, Kansas. He was cremated at his request, no services planned at this time.
On August 31, 1957, he married Judy Daniels in Lamar, Colorado. They celebrated 60 years of marriage before Judy passed in 2017. Martin and Judy were blessed with three children: Martin Jr., Michael and Danita. Martin loved to travel with Judy, friends, and family, whether on a motorcycle or in a RV. Colorado was their destination of choice, but covered many states through the years. Martin was owner/operator of Bond Sign Company, Enid Speedway and Byron Country Store for many years. He served as a volunteer firefighter/EMT for 32 years. Most recently, Martin had devoted his talents to helping build the playground for the town of Byron park. He was so proud of the playground, basketball court area, and volleyball pit that they were able to provide for the children of Byron to enjoy.
Martin will be remembered for his jokes, grin, hugs, and all around gentle kindness. He loved his kids and grandkids unconditionally and never failed to tell them how proud he was of them. At eighty-four years old, he attended as many sporting events as he could for his great-grandchildren.
Martin was preceded in death by his wife Judy, parents, infant son Martin Jr., and grandson Dillon Wichert.
He is survived by son Michael of Lahoma, daughter Deedy Wichert of Enid; six grandchildren: Tara (Bo) Hannaford of Alva, Kandis Wichert of Enid, Levi (Marie) Bond of Fairmont, Lindsey Schuermann of Pond Creek, Brady (Chelsi) Bond of Garber, Cody (fiancé Makayla) Bond of Van Buren, AR; ten great-grandchildren whom he adored: Carson and Tucker Hannaford; Haylee and Devin Hansen; Kailyn, Jake, and Kinsley Bond; Brody, Brady, Toby Schuermann; siblings Marilyn Bautista of El Paso, TX, Darrel Bond of San Antonio, TX, and Anita Zentz of Molina, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews.
