Jimmy Leon Anderson

July 18, 1942 - September 19, 2021

The graveside service for Jimmy Leon Anderson, 79 year-old Enid resident, will be 3:00pm Friday, September 24, 2021 in Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. Visitation with family and friends will be 5:00pm-7:00pm Thursday, September 23, 2021 at the funeral home. The family asks for nothing formal but rather comfortable, casual clothes are preferred for the funeral as that is exactly what Jimmy would say.

Jimmy was born July 18, 1942 in Enid to Charley Rutman and Elzy Ina (Sanderson) Anderson and passed away suddenly at his home in Enid on September 19, 2021.

On August 19, 1959, Jimmy joined the United States Navy. He was stationed on the USS Kitty Hawk. After his honorable discharge, he married Bonnie Thompson on March 19, 1966.

Jimmy worked as a welder at Hackney’s for a number of years before joining Thurman’s. He continued there for thirty-eight years before retiring in 2013.

Jimmy was a member of DAV and Hennessey Powder and String Club. He loved his retirement years, as that meant more time fishing but he was also a proud parent, grandparent and great-grandparent.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Vera Weer and Betty Burger; brother, Clifford Anderson and twin siblings in infancy.

Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie, of the home; children, Brian Anderson and Kristina Anderson, both of Enid; chosen children, Perla Hernandez; Tammy Bowser; Lee Ann Burdg; Lisa O’Neal; Leon Heindrick; grandchildren, Eric; Amara; Marylynn; JJ; Addian; Khrissy Coker; Esthephanie; Fabian; Romando; Amanda; Noni; Nale; great-grandchildren, Cody; Alex; Matt; Xavere; brother, Clarence; sisters-in-law, Cindy, Kaye and Deanna; brother-in-law, Dan Weer, nephew, Max Lemmons and wife, Mary as well as numerous extended family.

Memorials in Jimmy’s name may be given through the funeral home to Wounded Warriors or Enid Disabled American Veterans.

Obituaries are posted, in part, due to the generosity of The Commons.
