Film Starring Cheryl Ladd & The Imaginaries Filming In Chickasha

CHICKASHA, OK - A Cowgirl’s Song, the country music driven feature film and fourth installment in the popular Cowgirls ‘N Angels series, begins filming in Chickasha, OK today. The film will be distributed by Samuel Goldwyn Films and stars the legendary Cheryl Ladd (Charlie’s Angels), Savannah Lee May (Julie And The Phantoms, The Secret Lives Of Cheerleaders) and Darci Lynne Farmer (America’s Got Talent season 12 winner), as well as local Oklahoma music favorites The Imaginaries’ Maggie McClure and Shane Henry.

A Cowgirl’s Song is a coming-of-age drama that follows an aspiring but adrift teen singer who goes to live with her grandmother, once a country music legend, but has fallen on hard times after the death of her husband five years earlier. Together they overcome adversity and find redemption through their love of music. A Cowgirl’s Song is written and directed by Timothy Armstrong and marks his return to the series and to filming in Oklahoma a decade after Cowgirls ‘N Angels.

“I’m so excited to come back to the wonderful state of Oklahoma to film this new Cowgirls ‘N Angels movie and thrilled to be filming in Chickasha. It’s such a beautiful classic Oklahoma town, and the support and cooperation from city officials and residents has been remarkable,” says Timothy Armstrong.

Joining the team are producers Starla Christian and Jessica Barondes, as well as co-producer/locations manager Reagan Elkins and CSA casting director Chris Freihofer. The Imaginaries, who’ve had success with Armstrong writing the Camp Arrowhead soundtrack (as well as Maggie McClure having multiple songs featured in A Cowgirl’s Story and Cowgirls ‘N Angels), will co-star, co-produce, music supervise, score and write the soundtrack to the film.

"We always love working with Timothy Armstrong on his films,” say The Imaginaries. “This one is very special to us as our music is such a huge part of the film and we get to have great roles in it as well! We're very thankful for the opportunity and thrilled to be working with such an excellent team and project."

The cast and crew would like to thank the Chickasha Economic Development Council and The City of Chickasha for opening up the city to them during the three-week shoot which will see the cast filming all over including the Grady County Fairgrounds, Canadian River Brewery, and The Chickasha Hotel.
