Celebration of Life Service for Jimmie Powell will be Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 2:00 pm in New Hope United Methodist Church. Inurnment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory.
Jimmie was born December 3, 1927, in Agra, Oklahoma to Buel and Mable (Lochner) Powell and passed peacefully February 23, 2021.
Jimmie was a 1945 graduate of Enid High School and attended Phillips University. He married Donna Strickland August 6, 1949 in Enid at Grand Avenue Methodist Church. They were married 67 years.
He worked for Union Equity Cooperative Exchange for 46 years. He served with the 13th Army Air Force as an airplane mechanic at Clark Air Base in the Philippines and received WWII Victory Medal.
He was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church. He served as lay leader, chairman of many boards,
Sunday School teacher, youth director, member of the choir and lead many services in nursing homes and other special services.
Jimmie was a charter member of the North Enid Lion’s Club for over 55 years. He also served as a trustee on the North Enid town board. He was a member and served on the board of the Enid Garden Club and president and chaplain of the Roadrunner Good Sam’s camping club.
Jimmie leaves behind many cherished memories with his family and friends, daughters Debra (Jackie) Wayman, Goltry, Christa (John) Ringwald, Texas and Sara (Jay) Black, Enid. Grandchildren Aubrey Brune, Ryan (Tasha) Stallings, Hilary (Jon) Danklefs, Haleigh (David) Rogers and Harlie (Austin) Patocka. Great Grandchildren Avery Brune, Wesley and Jimmie Danklefs, Hunter and Kolt Patocka. Brothers Jerrel (Aldena) Powell, St. Johns, Florida and Jeane (Marilyn) Powell, Sebring Florida; Sister-in-law Joyce (Robert) DeMoss, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Donna.
Memorials may be made to North Enid Lion’s Club and New Hope United Methodist Church through the funeral home.
