Jerry was born in Enid, Ok to Willis and Elsie (Haley) Hicks the 2nd of five children. Jerry attended North Enid and Kremlin Schools and joined the U.S. Army at the age of 17. He served three tours of duty in Vietnam, the last tour as a helicopter pilot. He left the Army in 1972 as a chief warrant officer 2. Jerry worked in the oil field and construction trades until his health began to fail in the 1990’s due to military service related conditions. He married his wife, Elizabeth Flaherty before his final tour of duty and had two children, Kimberly Sue and Jerry Wayne Hicks.
He is survived by his wife, two children, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one sister, Sharon Pratt, and two brothers, Randy and Ricky Hicks. He was preceded in death by his parents and his youngest brother, David; one grandchild and one great grandchild.
Jerry will be remembered as a kind, loving Christian man willing to help anyone in need and will be missed greatly.
