Funeral services for Richard Dean Nightengale will be Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at 2:00pm at Grace Mennonite Church with Pastor Richard Stephens officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Visitation with the family present will be Monday evening 5:00-7:00pm at the funeral home.

Richard Dean Nightengale was born December 3, 1936 to Ted and Susan (Penner) Nightengale in Homestead, Oklahoma and passed away Thursday, June 11, in Enid.

Richard grew up in the Fairview area. He attended rural schools and Fairview High School.

Richard began his career working for Butler Grain and Storage in Amarillo, Texas putting up steel buildings in West Texas. His interest in auto paint and body repair changed his direction in life. He began working at various paint and body shops learning the trade and he spent nearly 40 years working between Franklin’s Body Shop and Lyle’s Body Shop in Enid.

Richard married Joann Brakage of Fairview and three children were born of this marriage. Richard Dean, Jr., Lanett Renee and Randy Lee. Richard married Ruth Simons of Ringwood on August 13, 1977. Darrin Michael was born to this union.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Susan; his sister, Alice Bond Robinson; and his brother, Alvin Nightengale.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth of the home; three sons, Richard, Jr. (Barbie), Randy (Kim) of Oklahoma City and Darrin (Samantha) of Crescent; daughter, Lanett (Mike) McCoy of Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren, Michelle, Gabriel, Nick, Megan, Amanda, Kilea and Haylea; 2 great-grandchildren, Oliver and Evelynn; a step-brother, Don Turner, and step-sisters, Doris Brewer and Linda Butler.

Memorials may be made through Anderson-Burris to OMRF-Cystic Fibrosis or donor’s choice.
