A memorial service celebrating and honoring the life of Betty Doreen Green, 95, of Oklahoma City will be held at a future date in the Westminister Presbyterian Church, Oklahoma City. Services and complete cremation care are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home, Enid, Oklahoma.

Betty was born on December 11, 1924, to Edgar and Dorothy (Harris) Page in Birmingham, England, and passed from this life on March 31, 2020 in Enid, Oklahoma.

She was reared and educated in Birmingham. During World War II, she met Jack L. Scott, and they were married in 1945 in Birmingham. The couple moved to Oklahoma while Jack completed his architecture and engineer degree, and they resided in Venezuela, South America, for a short time. Returning to Oklahoma City, the family was active in Penn Avenue Christian Church where Betty sang in the choir. During this time Betty spent hours watching and encouraging her children’s various activities, especially during their time at Harding High School.

Betty married Joe Green, and they enjoyed years together until his death in 1984. Betty then met Jack Abernathy with whom she enjoyed an active social life, traveling, and worshipping at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Betty enjoyed painting and belonged to the Oklahoma City English Society.

She is survived by her son, John L. Scott, and wife, Marsha, of Enid, Oklahoma; her daughter, Dorothy Scott Brown, and husband, Bruce, of Oklahoma City; step daughter, Janette Green Hnatou, and husband, John, of Oklahoma City; and brother-in-law, Harry Rodgers, of Kent, England. She is also survived by her grandchildren Allyson Scott Gevertz of Atlanta, Georgia, Andrew Scott of Colorado Springs, Lt. Col. Matthew Lindsey of Colorado Springs, and Page Lindsey Hauser of Oklahoma City, and many great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church of Oklahoma City or The Methodist Commons of Enid, Oklahoma, with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
