ENID, OK - Enid Public Schools has selected Nina Gregory to lead the Enid High School Pacer basketball program. Board of Education members approved the hire during their regular meeting Monday night.

Gregory joins EPS after serving as a graduate assistant for the women’s basketball program at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. During the 2018-19 school year, the team accomplished the first unbeaten season in Great American Conference history, claimed a regional championship, and earned a spot in the NCAA Division II national finals.

EPS Athletic Director Billy Tipps says Gregory will be a wonderful addition to the EHS athletic program and is committed to keeping the program moving forward.

“We feel really good about having Coach Gregory lead our girls’ basketball program,” said Tipps. “She was very impressive in her interview. That, along with her enthusiasm for the game and her players and the experience she brings to Enid, made us confident that she will work very well with all involved to move our program forward in a positive direction.”

Gregory began her coaching career as an intern assistant coach at Clovis West High School in California. In addition to her work with the SWOSU team, she has conducted summer basketball programs and intramural activities. Gregory earned her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree at SWOSU, where she played for the Lady Bulldogs for two seasons.

Trust and communication have been the foundation of Gregory’s philosophy on education and coaching. She looks forward to implementing that philosophy on the EHS court and to joining the Enid community.

“One of the reasons I chose to come to Enid is because of the small-town feel,” Gregory said. “I am really looking forward to being a part of a new era of Pacer women's basketball here in Enid. I am excited for this opportunity that I have been given, and I can't wait to get started.”

In addition to coaching, Gregory also will teach physical science at EHS.
