Robert Carl Brewer

A Memorial Service for Robert Carl Brewer, age 84, will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 11, 2019, at Golden Oaks Chapel with Reverend Randy Mitchell officiating. Cremation arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory, with inurnment in Fort Gibson National Cemetery.

Robert was born on August 11, 1934 in Camden, South Carolina to William Carl and Nealy Blanche Brewer and passed away Thursday, January 4, 2019 in Enid, Oklahoma.

He grew up in South Carolina and graduated from Harding High School. On March 19, 1955, he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Frances McGill, and they resided in North Carolina, South Carolina and Iowa. Robert enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1956 and served four years. While stationed in Alaska, it became the 49th state. Robert went to work for the Charlotte Police Department in 1960 until 1973. He later accepted a teaching position at Tri-County College in Murphy, North Carolina. He received his Masters’s Degree in Criminal Justice and taught at various college in South Carolina, North Carolina and Iowa. They moved to Enid in 2014. Mary preceded him in death in June 2015 and he later married Alice Johnson on September 21, 2017 and they resided at Golden Oaks. Robert was a member of First United Methodist Church.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, sister, Gwen, and infant brother, Ruben.

He is survived by his wife, Alice of the home; sister, Nancy Ann Marthers of Charlotte, North Carolina; nieces and nephews, Roxanne Pollard of Waukomis, Keith Collins of Enid, Sherry Finley of Rock Hill, SC, David Marthers of Iron Station, NC, Rhonda Novotney of Mt. Croghan, SC, Angie Rowlette of Charlotte, NC; other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Golden Oaks Chapel Fund.
