The funeral for Lawrence E. Smith, 89 year-old Enid resident will be 10:00AM Tuesday, October 16, 2018 in the Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Gail Edmison will officiate. Burial will follow in Karoma Cemetery in Goltry.

Lawrence was born March 3, 1929 in Goltry to John and Lena (Becker) Smith and died Tuesday, October 9, 2018 in the Commons with his family at his side. He attended Goltry and Enid Schools. He enlisted in the United Sates Navy and was stationed in San Diego and Bremerton, Washington. While in the Navy, on January 1, 1950 he married Wanda Hancock in Enid where the couple made their home.

After his service he owned and operated Enid Transmission Specialists for over 55 years. Thirty of those years he worked along- side with his son, Mike.

He enjoyed bowling, shooting pool, and taking coffee breaks and watching the trains.

He is survived by his son Michael Smith, Enid, daughters Judy McKinley and husband Kevin of Marlow, OK. and Diana Berry and husband Sam of Edmond. Seven grandchildren; Amy Brezina, Patricia Smith, Lisa Beck, Melody Hansen, Megan Rains, Melissa Sams, and Jonathan Gearhart.14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Wanda, one great-grandson Tyler, three brothers, Elmer, Clyde, and Alvin and four sisters, Mable, Marie, Genevieve, and Virginia.
