Rose M. Kliewer

The funeral services celebrating and honoring the life of Rose M. Kliewer, 101, of Enid, will be held 2:00 P.M Monday January 15, 2018 in the Willow Road Christian Church with Pastor Carrell Still officiating, burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

She was born August 30, 1916 to Lewis and Bertha Smith Pickens on a homestead between Grand and Arnette In Ellis County. The family moved to Canton, Oklahoma when she was four years old, there she attended school, graduating from Canton High School in 1935. During World War II, she was a “rivet bucket” worker, building airplanes at Beechcraft in Wichita, Kansas. On October 4, 1938 she married Arthur Kliewer, in Canton, Oklahoma, the couple lived in McPherson, Kansas, Wichita, Kansas, and Longdale, Oklahoma where she was a homemaker before moving to Enid. After moving to Enid, she worked part-time at Enid News and Stationary. Rose was well known for her delicious Homemade cinnamon rolls, donuts, bread and fried chicken. She was also known for sharing her paintings with family and friends. She was a member of the Willow Road Christian Church and The Order of The Eastern Star Enid Chapter 36.

She is survived by her 6 children, Donald Kliewer and wife Diane, of Enid; Barbara Burnett, of Yukon; Larry Kliewer, of Broken Arrow; Bertha Jennings, of Enid; Bonnie Gainey and husband Phil, of Enid; and Beverly Carroll, of Enid; eighteen grandchildren, thirty-seven great-grandchildren, sixteen great-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, her parents, two great granddaughters, and one great grandson.

Memorials may be made to The Order of the Eastern Star Enid Chapter 36, Feed the Children or a charity of your choice with Brown-Cummings serving as custodians of the funds.
