ENID, OK - Substitute teachers for Enid Public Schools are now making more for their work in the district’s classrooms.
-
Following approval from the Board of Education Monday night, pay for substitutes with an Oklahoma teaching certificate increased to $80/day, up from $65. Pay for those without a teaching certificate increased to $70/day, up from $58. Certified teachers who work in the same assignment for a significant amount of time have the opportunity to earn even more. The rate changes are effective for days worked on or after September 1.

“When teachers must be gone due to illness or training, it is important that we have professional, caring adults who can continue to help students learn and grow,” Amber Graham Fitzgerald, Executive Director of Human Resources & Communications, said. “We are very excited to be able to better compensate our substitutes for their time and expertise. Substitutes are essential and valued members of our team, and we appreciate the difference they make for our students.”

More substitutes are needed in the district. Online applications can be submitted by visiting www.enidpublicschools.org/applytoday. Priority is given to those with either a teaching certificate or a bachelor’s degree; however, anyone interested is encouraged to attend. EPS covers the cost of background checks for substitutes, and a screening process is required.
