The funeral services celebrating the life of Mr. Milford Becker, 94, of Enid are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
Services celebrating the life of Milford L. (M.L.) Becker ,94, Enid will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, 19, 2017 in the Central Christina Church with Rev. Dr. Jarrett Banks officiating and Rev. Shannon Speidel Co officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. Graveside military honors will be conducted by the Vance Air Force Base Silver Talon Honor Guard. Mr. Becker was born to Harry B. and Edna L. Becker on November 19,1922 in Meno, Oklahoma. He attended Meno Star Center for grade school where he was taught for four years by Dorothy Becker his Grandmother. He attended Emerson Jr. High and Enid High School where he graduated in 1941. M.L. said his responsibilities before the war “were not much of anything” M.L. was drafted in March 1944 and during this time he was assigned to a 10-man air force combat crew where he was sent to England where he served with the 487th Bomb Group in Levenam, England. He was transferred to the 34th Bomb Group. He then flew the Martin B-26 Marauders. He was shot down on his 23rd mission by Bastogne and marched across Germany as a POW. He was later liberated by American troops. After his discharge, he attended the Spartran School of Aeronautics where he received his Aircraft and Engine Mechanics License. He worked two years for Spartan Aircraft Company in Tulsa and attended business college. He then returned to Enid to work for Vance Air Force base for five years. After owning the maintenance shop at Woodring Field in Enid for thirty-seven years, he retired in 1992. He had an incredible knowledge of aircraft.
He was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church and attended Central Christian Church and is survived by a host of loving friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and lifelong companion Ellen Janes.
