A celebration of the life of Melissa Rae McDowell, age 48 of North Enid, will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2017, in the Anderson-Burris Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Gary Miller officiating.

Melissa Rae McDowell was born June 13, 1968, in Enid, OK, to Eddie Ray and Sue LeValley McDowell and died Friday, March 3, 2017 at her home.

She was born with Down Syndrome and a congenital heart defect.

Melissa attended 12 years of Special Education in Enid Public Schools, North Enid Elementary, and graduated from the Garfield County Co-op class at Autry Vo-Tech as a graduate of Chisholm High School. Melissa chose to live at home after graduation.

She loved to look at pictures of any family, no matter what family she was visiting.

Melissa is survived by her parents, brother Royce and wife Shannon, nephew Garret Lee and niece Jessi Marie of North Enid, and many special aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The happiest day of Melissa’s life was when brother Royce married Shannon and gave her a “sister”. She loved them all very much

She was preceded in death by the late Waldo and Agnes McDowell and the late Omer and Hilda LeValley.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Circle of Love with Anderson-Burris Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
