Lonnie Dean Glover of Wichita, Kansas, formerly of rural Marland, died Friday, December 16, 2016, at his home at the age of 50 years, 8 months, and 17 days.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Northeast Baptist Church, 2200 N. Pecan, Ponca City, Oklahoma, with the Reverend Chris Short officiating. Services are under the kind guidance of the Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service and Cremation Directors, 2420 N. Washington, Enid, Ok. 73701. A private family committal of the cremains will be held at a later date.
Lonnie Dean Glover was born March 29, 1966, in Enid, Oklahoma. Lonnie was raised in the rural Marland area until moving to Ponca City in 1980. He was baptized in October of 1974, at the Marland Baptist Church. Lonnie graduated from Ponca City Senior High School in 1984. He attended and graduated from DeVry Institute in Dallas. Lonnie served proudly in the U.S. Navy for six years. His parents were Irvin and Mary Wright, Phil Glover and Wanda Sage.
Lonnie’s career was as an Avionics and Electronic Technician with radios, working for Cessna in Wichita, Kansas. He was very proud and very adept at this profession and was able to travel to many places through his profession and made many friends.
Lonnie married Vickie Corcoran February 29, 2016, in a small, beautiful family service at his sister’s home in Ponca City, Oklahoma, with the Reverend Chris Short officiating. We all teased him that he would only have to buy an anniversary gift every four years, to which he replied “aren’t I a genious”. Sadly, this was not to be, as Vickie passed away 6 weeks later, on April 16, 2016, of breast cancer. Lonnie loved Vickie and his family. He also loved to barbeque, smoke meat, dance, play cards, hunt, be outdoors and be with this family and friends. He loved his two dogs, Scooby and Charlie. If Lonnie and Vickie came to Ponca City to visit, Scooby was always with them. He acquired Charlie just this last year.
Lonnie was ornery and had a smile that wold light up the room. He will be missed greatly by his family and left us too soon. Our comfort comes from the fact that Lonnie loved the Lord and is now in Jesus’ arms with Vickie and his family that preceded him.
His siblings who survive him are; Charles Glover and wife Cheryl of Ponca City; Irvin Lee Wright and wife Nancy of rural Marland; E.W. Wright and wife Paula of Ponca City; Sharon Luis and husband Robert of Ponca City; and Charlotte St. Armour of Tulsa. He is survived by Phil Glover, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, many cousins, and aunts and uncles. He leaves behind many friends in Wichita as well.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Vickie, Parents Irvin and Mary Wright; and Wanda Sage.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in Lonnie’s memory to the organization of your choice. Cards or memories may be sent in care of Sharon Luis, 4932 Fairway Ln, Ponca City, Oklahoma 74604. Remembrances may be shared online at www.stittsworthfuneralservices.com.
