ENID, OK - (Updated 3/1/2024) The Enid City Council consists of a mayor and six commissioners who serve four-year terms. At least three council positions are up for election every two years. Commissioners are elected by ward and the candidate must live in the ward for which they are running. The mayor and city commissioners are volunteers and do not receive a salary.
The City of Enid’s council-manager form of government gives policy authority to the City Council and administrative authority to the City Manager. City staff endeavors to make the most efficient use of the limited revenues received from city sales tax, user fees, ad valorem (property) tax, franchise fees and intergovernmental agreements. Expenditures include public safety, parks and recreation, debt service, maintenance, redevelopment, library, and general administration. The Council meets regularly on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at City Hall.
