ENID, Okla. - The City of Enid joined forces with the Enid Public Schools recently to improve upon a 620 foot section of shoulder fronting the Prairie View Elementary school.
-
The improvement to the shoulder portion located on the north side of Willow Road will provide a paved area for cars as parents pick up students. The City of Enid Public Works employees performed the base foundational work including the addition of dirt work. Additionally, Enid Public Schools hired Cummins Construction company to provide the asphalt for the project.

Ward 6 Commissioner Dr. David Vanhooser stated, "Last fall I drove by Prairie View school around 3 o'clock and noticed the line of nearly 50 cars turning into pick up their kids. It created quite a safety hazard because they were half on the dirt shoulder and half on Willow Road. I went back later to look at the entrance, and then contacted city manager Gilbert about the possibility of paving the section between the two entrances. He quickly got on the project, created a partnership with the school itself, and then got the project physically accomplished. That section of Willow should be much safer for the parents and students now. My appreciation goes all out to all those who worked hard to make this happen." City Manager Jerald Gilbert added, “working with the Enid Public Schools is another example of how partnerships work for the betterment of the Enid community.”
