Services for Joseph Paul Vance, 96, of Hillsdale, Okla., will begin with a grave side service at 9:30 am Saturday, June 25 at Memorial Park Cemetery just North of Enid and followed by memorial services at 10:30 am at Hillsdale Bible Church with Dr. Robert Courtney officiating. Service is under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. Military Graveside Honors will be conducted by the US Army. Family will receive friends 6pm to 8pm, Friday, June 24, 2016 at the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
Joe was born January 15, 1920 to Harry & Eva (Brown) Vance in Cherokee, Okla. He lived in the Hillsdale community until the last few years and passed away peacefully Monday, June 20, 2016 in Conroe, TX.
He graduated from High School in Vega, TX and graduated from OSU with a technical degree in TV & Radio Repair.
He was united in marriage to Wanda Beth Horton on June 3, 1944.
He was a soldier, farmer, TV repairman, and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He served in the Army Air Corp during WWII. He was a TV repairman in the Enid area. He also served as President of the Hillsdale Equity Exchange board. He was an active member of Hillsdale Bible Church and served as treasurer.
He is predeceased by his wife, parents, brother Lynn, sisters Wanda and June, and daughter Jane Ford Copeland.
He is survived by two sons and their wives, Terry Lynn and wife Terry Dee of Austin, TX & Tommy Joe and wife Diane of Montgomery, TX; 7 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
The Vance family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to family, friends and community members who were such a support to him.
