The graveside service for Marjorie Joyce “Peggy” Ashworth, 92, Enid, will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday 20, 2016 with Rev. Kelly Russell officiating at Ponca City I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Ponca City under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
She was born Feb. 2, 1924 in Ponca City, OK to Estel Allen and Margaret Oral (Lane) Schneider. Peggy passed away April 9, 2016 at her home in Enid. She graduated Ponca City High School in 1943. Peggy married Donald Lee Ashworth on Aug. 14, 1943 in Ponca City, OK. They moved to Santa Anna, California for 3 years before returning to Ponca City in 1949 for a year. In 1950, Donald and Peggy became permanent residences of Enid. Peggy worked as a nurse in a doctor’s office. Don and Peggy traveled all over the United States square dancing. They organized trips to Hawaii and on cruise lines for square dance clubs. Peggy enjoyed teaching and listening to her husband call. He preceded her in death on March 15, 2014. She was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and Oklahoma Square Dance Federation. Peggy loved golf, tennis and football, she enjoyed the Thunder games as well.
Peggy is survived by her daughter, Melody & husband Slyvan Reynolds of Enid, OK; granddaughter Megan & husband Harvey Lavicky, Jr. of Enid, OK; sister-in-law, Maxine Schneider of Ponca City and several nieces and nephews.
Peggy was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
