The memorial services for Philip Leslie Hyde, 63, of Enid will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 6, 2016 in the Henninger~Hinson Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Gary Miller officiating.
Phil was born July 13, 1953, in Duncan, Oklahoma, to Erma 'Babe' Hyde and was adopted by Walter Hyde and passed away December 22, 2015, in Enid.
Phil graduated from Duncan High School and went on to get his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Recreational Therapy from OSU. He spent his career working with and helping those most in need. From working with and advocating for people who were mentally and physically handicapped at NORCE of Enid, to working with and doing therapy for those who suffered with addiction and mental illness at Laureate in Tulsa. He made a difference in countless lives. He also served as a lifeguard for many years.
Phil was a loving and passionate person. He was at his best when he was helping others or entertaining and he put his heart and soul into everything he did. He was an incredibly talented musician both vocally and instrumentally. He played in the band "Little Nemo" and then went on to found the band "The New Cimarron Swingsters". Phil and the bands he played in were quite influential in the music scene in the 70s and 80s. Among others, Phil also played with Merle Haggard and Buddy Guy. He was a wonderful artist as well, and worked in everything from pottery and wood to drawing and painting. Survivors include his mother, Babe Hyde; partner, Janet Cook; daughters, Jacey and Lorri Hyde; grandchildren, Emerson Hyde and Archer Baker. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Hyde.
Phil will be remembered as a proud and loving father, a talented and influential musician and a loyal, fierce friend.
