City of Enid Mosquito Problem
-
After seeing my post and video of the mosquito attack on Tuesday night, Commissioner Tammy Wilson talked to city manager Jerald Gilbert about the mosquito issue. Gilbert believes the mosquitoes generally disappear about as quickly as they pop up but the city will monitor the mowing to make sure that's not an issue.
-
Gilbert said, "A follow-up on the mosquitoes is that we can provide biodegradable, safe for animals mosquito “donuts” that you can put in standing water to kill the mosquito larvae. The park department has these and I will ask them to be vigilant in putting these out in any water around the trails. They can pass some of them out to concerned citizens as well to do the same thing. Just have the citizens call and ask for the parks department."

Avoiding Mosquitoes
-
The heavy rains will be bringing a higher than usual number of little pests. To protect yourself from viruses mosquitoes carry this summer the health department recommends you follow the four "D's."
-
1) DRAIN standing water
2) Use insect repellent with DEET
3) Stay indoors at DUSK and DAWN
4) DRESS in long sleeves and pants
