Do you or someone you know need dental work? Are you having a tough time affording it? Oklahoma Dental Association President Tim Fagan is bringing Oklahoma Mission of Mercy (OkMOM) to Enid to help!
February 7-8, 2014
Chisholm Trail Expo Center, Enid, OK
The Oklahoma Mission of Mercy (OkMOM) is a free, two-day dental clinic open to people of all ages and backgrounds. It is specifically designed for people that are uninsured, under insured or would otherwise not be able to seek dental care. Please note: No narcotic medications will be dispensed at OkMOM!
OkMOM, is a MASH-style free dental clinic designed to treat the most pressing needs. At the event, patients will undergo medical and dental triage to identify their needs and then be routed to the appropriate areas of treatment: oral surgery, extractions, restorations, pediatrics and hygiene. They anticipate treating 2,000 patients over the course of the event.
The Oklahoma Mission of Mercy is happy to be traveling to Enid, Oklahoma for the 5th Annual OkMOM! Enid is in dire need of an event like OkMOM. According to Janet Cordell, Clinic Coordinator at the Enid Community Clinic, oral health is a common issue at the clinic.
Start Time: Clinic doors will open each day at 5 a.m.
End Time: Doors will close each day when they reach capacity.
(Capacity is estimated at 1,000 patients per day)
All ages will be seen. However, they may be limited to the types of services offered if they are age-restrictive. (Dentures will not be available at OkMOM). A parent or guardian must stay with the child throughout entire treatment. You should expect to spend the majority of your day there. By the time you wait in line, have your medical screening, dental screening and treatment completed, it could be a 6-8 hour (or longer) event. Please be prepared for that amount of time. They will provide breakfast and lunch for patients at no cost.
The normal process that you will go through is this: 1. Waiting in line. 2. Basic patient registration forms to fill out (volunteers will be available to help if needed). 3. Basic medical examination. 4. Dental screening. 5. Waiting for your designated procedures for the day. 6. Treatment. 7. Checkout and follow-up instructions. Translators (Spanish and Vietnamese) and signers for the hearing impaired will be available at OkMOM.
They recommend bringing a list of your current medications, one day supply of medications and if you have children with you, supplies for the whole day. Also, if you are diabetic, please bring appropriate snacks that you might require throughout the day. Most of all, bring patience and a good attitude! Learn more online at FAQ's.
