Dr. Laura Lynn McKeever died Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Integris Hospital in Enid, Oklahoma of congestive heart failure. Cremation arrangements by Anderson Burris Funeral Home and Crematory.
Dr. McKeever was born December 6, 1956, in Sedan, Kansas to Max and Linda Powers Beason. Her family moved frequently during her childhood because of her father’s employment, settling in Enid where she graduated from Enid High School with the class of 1975.
After graduation, she married Stan Miller and worked at Security National Bank for a year before her first child, Amy, was born. She then worked at Cansler-Burke Insurance Agency for approximately ten years.
At age 28. She decided to become a physician and enrolled in Phillips University graduating Magma Cum Laude. She graduated from Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1995, also with honors. During this time, she gave birth to her sons Jay and Max and in addition to her studies she was busy raising three children.
Dr. McKeever’s internship was in OB/GYN at Hillcrest Health Center in Oklahoma City where she delivered literally hundreds of babies. Her residency was in Enid under the University of Oklahoma Residency Program. She worked as an emergency room physician at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center for two years before entering a private practice with Dr. Tom Snyder and Dr. David Matousek, being board certified in family practice. From 2004-2007 she was staff physician at the Oklahoma State University Health Science Center on the OSU Campus.
Dr. McKeever’s passion was emergency medicine, and she left family practice to work at St. Mary’s emergency room where she was awarded Doctor of the Year in 2013 and became Medical Director of the Emergency Department. She retired from active practice in 2017 to be with her husband, Clark, during his extended cancer treatment in Houston, Texas. After her retirement she worked a few weekend shifts in the emergency room at Share Medical Center in Alva where she was excited to deliver her last baby. She and Clark shared a love of learning, art, and travel.
Laura was proceeded in death by her parents Max and Linda Beason and her brother Warren Beason. She is survived by her daughter, Amy Miller and husband Robert Raskin and children Siera and Camden Livingston, Tulsa; her son, Jay Miller and wife Zoe (now expecting) of Los Angeles, California; son Max Miller and wife Rachel and children Roman and Sophie, of Tulsa; and her husband Clark McKeever. She is also survived by her sister Trish Beason, and brothers, Jim and Paul Beason and nine nieces and nephews.
At her request there will be a private family memorial service at a later date. Memorials may be made to Loaves and Fishes of Enid and 4RKids of Enid.
