ENID, OK - The Enid Public Library invites the community to a celebration of Día de Muertos on Tuesday, Oct. 29, starting at 4 p.m. This event offers a unique opportunity to explore the rich cultural tradition of Día de Muertos through film, creativity, and education.
Festivities begin with a screening of Coco, a heartwarming PG-rated animated movie inspired by the holiday. Join us at 4 p.m. to experience Miguel’s journey as he learns about family, music, and remembrance.
Following the film, children can get creative by crafting and decorating their own guitars, like the one Miguel plays in the movie. Please note that supplies are limited, and we may need to restrict it to one guitar per family.
At the same time, adults and older children can join us in the Red Earth Room for an informative session on the significance of ofrendas, the altars that play a central role in Día de Muertos celebrations. Participants will learn how to build their own ofrendas at home, create paper marigolds, and learn more about the various altar components.
Don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate and learn about Dia de Muertos’ deep cultural roots and significance. For more information, visit enid.okpls.org or contact the library at (580) 234-6313 or publiclibrary@enid.org.
