January 5, 1967 - August 19, 2024
Wendy Sue French Eckert was born January 5, 1962, to Gary and Lavonda Sue French, and passed from this life August 19, 2024, at the age of sixty-two in Enid, Oklahoma.
She attended Enid schools, graduating in 1980. Wendy lived in Japan twice, once when she was a preschooler while her family was stationed with the Airforce and again in Okinawa for two years when she was in her twenties. Although she worked outside the home in several capacities, her greatest accomplishment was raising her three girls. She enjoyed SCA, camping, gaming, writing, watching movies, reading, and especially loved spending time with her children and precious grandchildren that were the absolute light of her life.
Wendy never knew a stranger and would make friends everywhere she went. Her friends became a second family to her. To many she was known as “Mamma Wendy.” She was a free spirit and fiercely independent with the most generous soul.
She is survived by her children, Cassandra Dyer and husband Sean, of Enid, Emma Harvey and partner Jamie, of Midwest City, Abigail Pekrul of Weatherford; four grandchildren, Brooklyn and Bailey Dyer and Emmitt and Elijah Pekrul; sister, Natalie Mason and husband Bryan; brother Nathan French and wife Andrea; nieces Brylie Mason and Sierra Fern; nephews Connor Mason and Jonnie French; and her beloved and constant companion, her faithful dog Doodle.
She is preceded in death by her parents Gary and La Vonda “Sue” French, Grandparents George and Leona Stevens, and Gordon and Iva French.
A Celebration of life for Wendy Sue Eckert, 62, of Enid, will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 7, 2024, in the Elks Lodge.
