Earlyne Shelton, 88, a beloved resident of Enid, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 12, 2024. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel in Enid, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory.
Earlyne was born on May 30, 1936, in Hennessey, Oklahoma to Earl and Gladys (Cline) Thompson. She grew up in Hennessey and graduated from Hennessey High School. Following her graduation, Earlyne pursued higher education at the University of Central Oklahoma, where she earned an associate degree in business. She worked as an administrative assistant for Gold Spot Dairy, where she met the love of her life, Bob Shelton. They were united in marriage on May 9, 1969 and together they made their home in Enid, Oklahoma, where they raised two sons, Richard and Stan.
A dedicated member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Earlyne exemplified the values of charity and service, always striving to benefit all of mankind. She was also an avid traveler, with one of her most cherished adventures being a trip to the Holy Lands with her twin sister, Darlyne. The bond between Earlyne and Darlyne was extraordinary; they were not only sisters but best friends, sharing countless memories and even winning awards at twin conferences, including one for being the “most unalike twins.”
Earlyne was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her son Richard and her parents. She leaves behind a legacy of love and family, survived by her son Stan Shelton of Enid, Oklahoma; granddaughter April Martin and husband Chad of Woodward, Oklahoma; granddaughter Morgan Shelton of Enid, Oklahoma; great-granddaughter Aspen Milledge of Glasgow, Scotland; and her beloved twin sister, Darlyne Thompson of Enid, Oklahoma.
