Roy C. Wahlgren, 80, Enid, Okla., died Saturday, July 13, 2024 at his home, surrounded by family. He was born February 6, 1944, in Gothenburg, Nebr., to Ivar and Maxine (nee Oman) Wahlgren.
A memorial service will be held at 10 am Thursday at Graceway Baptist Church, followed by burial at Enid Cemetery, with visitation at 6 pm Wednesday at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.
He graduated from Gothenburg High School, served in the Marines, and completed a course of seminary extension before becoming ordained.
He married Jean Kramer on Sept. 7, 1974.
Throughout the course of his working life, he spent many years selling myriad products, from monuments to cars. Of the work he did, the most important to him was the job of pastor, from when he was doing pulpit supply throughout Iowa, to Bethel Mennonite Church in Wolf Point, Montana, Zoar Mennonite Church in Goltry, Okla., Elm Flat Christian Church in Elm Flat, Okla., and Cleo Springs Christian Church in Cleo Springs, Okla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Laurel Mahnke and Mary Ann Wahlgren.
He is survived by his wife, Jean (nee Kramer) Wahlgren, of Enid, four children, Hannah (Paul) Nielsen of Grand Island, Nebr., Luke Wahlgren of Siloam Springs, Ark., Sarah (Jonathan) Anderson of Kansas City, Mo., and Caleb (Rebecca) Wahlgren of Oklahoma City, Okla., one sister, Peggy (Gary) Custer of Leesburg, Fla., and nine grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made through the funeral home to Graceway Baptist Church, The House FM, Maranatha Bible Camp, or Gideons International.
