A Celebration of Life Service for Susan Diane Young-Nivison age 69 of Enid will be 2:00 pm, Monday, June 24, 2024, at Oakwood Christian Church with Rev. Eric Keller and Rev. Alan Seibel officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will receive friends Sunday, June 23rd, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
Susan was born October 30, 1954 in Enid to Levernon “Buzz” and Anita L. (Kiely) Young and passed away at her home on June 20, 2024 after a courageous fight with cancer. She attended Enid Public Schools and graduated 1973. She worked as a land secretary for several years before beginning a career in Law enforcement for the City of Enid Police Department for 20 years retiring in 2007. She was the 90th President, and first female President of the Oklahoma Sheriff and Peace Officers Association. She was awarded the Meritorious Award, from the Oklahoma Peace Officers Association; the Honorable Service award from the Enid Police Department; and the Masonic Police Officer of the Year.
Susan later helped her friend Dave McCreary with house remodeling. She married James “Jim” Nivison on October 21, 1988 at First Presbyterian Church. Susan was a member of Oakwood Christian Church.
Susan is survived by her husband Jim of the home, son Travis Young, step daughter Lisa Green, and step son Anthony Nivison, 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, two brothers Randy and Buzz Young, Jr, and several other family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Dede Young.
Memorials may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation-Cancer Division with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory serving as custodians of the funds.
