Billye Jeane Zimmer

February 5, 1934 - March 9, 2024

Billye Jeane Zimmer passed away March 9, 2024 at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Enid, OK when her heart finally said it was time for her to join her family who had passed before her. Billye was 90 years old.

Billye was born on February 5, 1934 in Miami, OK to Pearl Maxine and Elbert Ricahrd Jolley. She graduated from St. John’s Hospital Nursing School in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1954. She and Gerald Zimmer married in 1954 after meeting on a blind date. They were married for 66 years before his death in 2020.

Billye worked at St. John’s for 10 years as a surgical nurse. Next, she was the head nurse for the American Red Cross Blood Center. Billye and Jerry spent many happy times fishing and camping, mostly at Grand Lake. She loved square dancing and maintained lifelong friendships with those she met. Her greatest joys were her 3 children, 7 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. She never knew a stranger. Due to health reasons, she and Jerry moved from Tulsa to Enid. They lived at the Commons Independent Living facility and later the Commons Health Care Center where she loved and was loved by many.

Billye was preceded in death by her husband Gerald (Jerry), son Randy, granddaughter Allison, brother Gary, and her parents.

Billye is survived by her sister Mary Dudley; children Barbara and Mike O’Quin of Enid, OK; Richard Zimmer of Edmond, OK; grandchildren Katelyn O’Quin; Tim O’Quin and fiancée Makayla Kidder; Scott Zimmer, Cody Zimmer, Kenzie Zimmer, Ryan and Dusti Zimmer; many nieces and nephews; and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Commons in Enid, OK with the funeral home as custodians; or charity of your choice.

A memorial service will be held in Tulsa at a later date. Cremation arrangements are with Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory.
