Funeral service for Rosa Maude Hackett will be 2:00pm, Saturday, December 23, 2023 in the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Jim Edmison officiating. Private burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory.
Rosa Maude (McCray) Hackett was born August 4, 1933 near Helena on her Grandparents farm to Clara (Kershner) and Clarence McCray. She passed away December 17, 2023 after a long battle with dementia.
Maude grew up in the Carmen area and graduated from Carmen High School in 1951. She met and married Leslie Hackett in 1952 and they were married November 7, 1952 in Van Buren, Arkansas. They were married almost 63 years before his death in 2015. Maude and Leslie made their home in Enid and raised two children, Larry Hackett and Patti Jones.
Maude had a home- based business doing ironing and sewing for many years. When her children were in grade- school she was active in the PTA and was always baking cookies or cupcakes for some kind of function at the school. She never missed a play or program that her children were in. She attended the First Baptist Church for many years. Her hobbies included gardening and growing flowers, baking, sewing, embroidery, reading, and playing games of Rummy and Yahtzee. There was almost always a game being played o the kitchen table every evening. She loved to watch funny television shows like Carol Burnett, I Love Lucy and the Red Skelton show. She loved life and loved to laugh. What she loved most was her husband, children, and her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leslie Hackett; son, Larry Hackett; two sisters, Annie McCray and Evelyn Lawrence; two brothers, Arthur (Bud) McCray and Harold McCray; and niece, Tonya Farrand.
Maude is survived by her daughter, Patti Jones of Enid; daughter-in-law, Marla Hackett of Ft. Worth; grandsons, Kyle Hackett, Jeremy Hackett of Ft. Worth, and Ian Hackett of Tecumseh; sisters, Joyce Murray of Enid, Linda Farrand of Ft. Supply; brother, Phillip McCray of Enid; and several nieces, nephews, great- nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The American Lung Association or the American Heart Association with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodian of the funds.
