Tomas Sanchez

September 22, 1938 - September 30, 2023

The services celebrating and honoring the life of Tomas Montes Sanchez, 85, of Enid, will be held at a later date. Complete cremation care and services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Tomas was born on September 22, 1938, to Victor and Santos Sanchez (nee Montes) in Ft. Stockton, Texas and passed peacefully on September 30, 2023, in Enid, Oklahoma.

He was raised and educated in Ft. Stockton. He enlisted in the United States Army, was stationed in Korea; Fort Bliss, El Paso. After serving in the United States Army, he began working with his father as a rancher later becoming a surveyor. He married Lily Galindo on March 7, 1961, in Ft. Stockton, Texas. The couple moved to various cities throughout the United States following his career as a land surveyor. They settled in Woodward, Oklahoma in 1973 where they owned and operated the Alamo Café until 1986. Lily passed Sept. 8, 1988. He went to work for North American Brine as a technician while he attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University where he received his associate degree. He medically retired in 1997. He married Guadalupe Molinar on July 14, 2000, in Ft. Stockton Texas. The couple moved to Enid in 2001 where they made their home.

He enjoyed oil painting and fishing in his free time. He was a gifted pool player and horseshoe player. He was very active in the preaching work as a Jehovah's Witness where he also served as an elder in his congregation. Tomas was always a “peace maker” and very family oriented.

He is survived by his children, Orlando (wife- Jodie) and Darlene Sanchez, stepchildren Delma (husband Victor), Ana (husband - Lolo), Armando (wife - Carrie), Miguel, Chencho (deceased); He was the oldest of nine siblings, Arcelia, Lucila, Yolanda, Adrian, Emma, Joel, Samuel, Adelina (deceased); thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends.
