Tuesday, November 5th, 1957 - Monday, January 9th, 2023
A Celebration of Life for the beautiful Cheryl “Cherie” Ward will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 81 Ranch in Enid, OK. A reception will be held immediately following. We affectionately ask all those who are willing to wear red lipstick in her honor. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory.
Cherie was born November 5, 1957 in Wichita, Kansas to William and Maebelle (Brobst) Rutledge, and passed away peacefully in her home on January 9, 2023. Cherie was well-traveled throughout her younger years. Growing up as an Army brat, she was proud of the places she experienced such as Alaska, Colorado and Germany, just to name a few. She married Roy Ward in 1980 and they made their home in Enid. In 1988 they made their dream a reality and opened Legends Hair Studio which is still open today. Her creative passions allowed her to branch out into several endeavors throughout her career. Most notably Glamour Shots, which she aptly named Legendary Looks, and Spotlights, a dance studio for youths of all ages. In her downtime she could always be found decorating her home, hosting fabulous parties, enjoying the lake, working on new craft projects, and spending time with her friends and family. She was quite talented in the arts and had a keen eye for style. Her list of friends is long, she always had plenty of Girlfriends and Goofballs to go around. She had a family that she fiercely loved and who loved her. She had proud parents, a loving sister, a caring husband, two daughters who admired and looked up to her, four grandchildren who adored her, two ornery sons-in-law that kept her on her toes, and a list that goes on for miles. We will forever love you, miss you, and respect you, Cher Bear, Mama Cher, and Haha.
She is preceded in death by her husband and parents. She is survived by her sister Debi Unruh and husband Rod, daughter Sasha Howerton and husband Wesley, daughter Jaree McCoy and husband Lucas, four grandchildren Camden, Elle, Hutch and Baylor, and nieces Ali and Peyton. Her favorite scripture is Proverbs 31:25, “She is clothed in strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.” She is a bright light that the world will truly miss.
