CSCF Distributes $1.5 million in 2022

ENID, OK - The Cherokee Strip Community Foundation (CSCF) made distributions in 2022 totaling over $1.5 million to charitable needs throughout Northwest Oklahoma. $905,000 of that was recently distributed to area nonprofits named as beneficiaries of designated endowed funds. Designated funds allow donors to support the good work of a specific program or nonprofit of their choosing, which creates a permanent source of reliable funding for them. Sixty (60) area nonprofits are beneficiaries of endowments held at the Cherokee Strip Community Foundation. This money is invaluable as nonprofits continue to face uncertain economic times.

In addition to the above designated distributions, another $135,000 in grants were distributed to charitable causes from Donor Advised Funds, $56,214 was recently awarded through the annual competitive grant cycle, and $30,000 was given to other programs and education to enhance nonprofit leadership in the community.

The Cherokee Strip Community Foundation also holds 15 different scholarship funds which awarded over $423,000 in scholarships to 41 students from Garfield County this year.

The total distributions from CSCF funds to benefit residents of Northwest Oklahoma was at little over $1.5 million in 2022.

The job of a community foundation is to identify solutions to local issues, build relationships with high-impact nonprofits leading this work, and mobilize resources to build a better future for all community members. Community foundations are fundamentally grant makers which support local nonprofits. CSCF administers over 275 funds that benefit Northwest Oklahoma in many unique ways.

“Community Foundations are a great way to give back to your community,” said Todd Hamilton, President of the Board of Directors. “The Cherokee Strip Community Foundation exists to create a permanent source of community capital benefitting residents of Northwest Oklahoma now and forever into perpetuity.”

The Board of the Cherokee Strip Community Foundation is made up of regional community leaders who are familiar with our community needs. CSCF is also a member of the Council on Foundations along with more than 800 other community foundations in the United States with more than $70 billion in combined assets and more than $10 billion in local grants and distributions given each year.
