The SSKC's first annual all-breed dog show was held May 16, 1944 in the Convention Hall. Two judges were present. Fewer than 300 dogs were judged. Dog shows have been held annually in Enid since with entries steadily increasing. In 1973, the Dog Show was moved to Garfield County Fairgrounds when Enid experienced a Flood. The Sooner State Kennel Club clustered with Seminole Kennel Club (Shawnee, OK) and Muskogee Kennel Club (Muskogee, OK) in Shawnee, OK from 1990 - 1995 for Memorial Day Weekend shows, then held back-to-back shows with Seminole Kennel Club in Enid, in October for several years. Currently the SSKC holds back-to-back dog shows and obedience trials in October, with entries averaging 950 dogs daily. 1997 marked the first year the show was held in the new Chisholm Trail Pavilion.

Obedience classes were taught starting in 1951. Classes are still offered, with occasional conformation classes held as requested. Members exhibit in conformation and obedience, with growing interest in agility.
-
Recognition plaques have been awarded annually since 1959 to members who titles a dog during that year. The club's logo was designed by a member's daughter.
-
Public Education Events are held during the year and a booth is set up at the dog show to promote responsible ownership of all dogs.
