Funeral services for Maxine Thomas, 93, Medford resident, will be held on Thursday morning, June 23, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the First Christian Church of Medford with Pastor Craig Vandeburgh officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Rosemound Cemetery under the kind guidance of the Stittsworth Funeral Service, Medford.
Maxine was born on August 1, 1922 in Medford, Oklahoma, the daughter of Frank and Ethel Hahn Postlewait, and passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 19, 2016 in Wakita with her five children by her side. She was raised and educated in Medford, graduating from Medford High School with the class of 1939. Maxine married Richard Leslie Thomas in Medford on December 31, 1943. He passed on August 13, 2012. Maxine worked for First National Bank for thirty-five years, retiring in 1993. Maxine worked along with Richard, farming and raising five children. She would spend her vacations hauling wheat. She was a member of First Christian Church of Medford. Survivors include sons, Robert and wife Betty Thomas of Harper KS, Larry and wife Jan Thomas of Perkins OK; daughters, Lois Harak of Mustang OK, Janet and husband Jim Todd of Medford, OK, and Lila and husband Butch Cink of Kaw City OK, brother Dilmond and wife Evelyn Postlewait of Wichita KS; ten grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Thomas, her parents, brother Delbert Postlewait, and sister Evelyn Doll, 3 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. The family has selected, and prefer, instead of flowers, memorial donations be made payable to Wakita Community Health Center or Hospice Circle of Love for memorial donations with the Stittsworth's coordinating.
