2021 Grand National Quail

ENID, OK – The Grand National Quail Club will be hosting the organization’s annual hunt in Enid, beginning Monday, November 15. The club’s 150 local members will host over sixty hunters from across the United States and beyond at ranches within about an 80-mile radius of Enid.

The 2021 hunt, which runs Monday, November 15 and concludes Thursday, November 18, is a national showcase, organized by literally hundreds of individuals, businesses and corporations that contribute to this great Oklahoma tradition. Since 1967, the Grand National Quail Club has hosted an invitational celebrity quail hunting event focused on fostering business relationships and showcasing Enid and northwest Oklahoma.

“We’re thrilled to get back into the field after making the difficult decision to postpone the 2020 hunt. Our guests, which include many high-level executives, Nashville entertainers, actors and athletes are eager to get to Enid to hunt birds and enjoy camaraderie with the fellow hunters and hosts. Many guests tell us they’re ready to escape the city life and skyscrapers to spend the week being regular guys,” said 2021 club president, Shaun Cummings. “After a year of being cooped up at home, getting back to normal is a welcome venture for many of our guests.”

Cummings often gets asked about the celebrities the club hosts. “This year we’re excited for the return two-time Super Bowl champion and NFL Hall of Famer, Dave Butz, who has been coming to the hunt for over 25 years. Also returning are recording artists Scotte Lester of The Great Divide and Corey Kent, whose career has taken off after getting his start on Blake Shelton’s team on The Voice.”

The club has a partnership with the Warriors for Freedom Foundation and invites service members who have served in our country’s armed forces. The foundation is dedicated to supporting and improving mental, physical and holistic wellness for our nation’s active military, veterans and their families. Brett Dick, son of Mark and Kaye Dick of Enid, is the Founder and President of Warriors for Freedom.

The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation closely monitors bird populations around the state and for over 25 years, has conducted roadside surveys to provide hunters an annual Quail Season Outlook. According to this year’s survey, quail population is slightly below the 10 year average. “We have great dogs and that just means the dogs are going to have to hunt a little harder,” said Cummings. The quail survey shows Northwest Oklahoma still boasts the highest quail numbers compared with the rest of the state. The complete survey can be found at www.wildlifedepartment.com. Quail season in Oklahoma begins Saturday, November 13 and runs through Tuesday, February 15, 2022.
